A very special sewing lady penned this poem for/about the 2010 Sewing and Embroidery Retreat. I would like to share it with you. This was Maureen's first sewing retreat. And when we all thought she was sneaking off early to catch a spot of sleep, little did we know that she was an undercover bush poet.
RETREAT Now here's a word with many meanings Does it mean go back, to hide, or just go dreaming, To get away, run away, or just go to a corner Surely, there's something good to keep in order.
Retreat is used in many ways:- But this time, it tells of happy days. Big girls gather with all kinds of machines And get away from the homefront, for new scenes.
They've gathered together to do some sewing, Yes, retreat it is, and then there's the showing Of jobs well done, over the past few months The talent just amazes, on all fronts.
We stitched, we embroidered, machines all busy. Jane keeps an eye on all, even some in a tizzy. Mother Beth made sure a hot cuppa was on hand To help soothe the nerves and any pain around.
Two days away, yes it is a retreat, No meals to cook or floors to sweep. At the end of two days, work flourished real well, Smiles all around, the girls leaving swell.
So pack the bag, machine and the gear, Look forward to "Retreat" in another year. So thank you Jane, and the rest of the group, Retreat in this sense meant time to recoup.
