Sewing and Embroidery Retreat - Townsville,  Nov 09
Our third Sewing and Embroidery retreat was held in Townsville.  A happy group of ladies again came together to enjoy a weekend of sewing, laughter and social interaction with like minded women.  Three interesting projects were offered to extend embroidery and sewing skills.  At Show and Tell on Sundy afternoon, many completed projects were proudly displayed indicating the level of commitment to sewing that each lady possessed.

Stumpwork Workshop - Sept 2009
A group of ladies came together for a three-day hand embroidery school under the excellent instruction of Judy Stephenson.  The ladies were inspired by Judy's  magnificent free standing crane, a creation using Stumpwork hand embroidery techniques.

The sheer concentration exhibited by the group was exhausting as they intently focussed on their hand work.

Button Tree Quilts - September 2009
A great day was enjoyed by everyone when I introduced the ladies to the Double Mitre ruler.  The ladies achieved well and learned new skills.  There was much concentration, but the effort was worthwhile.  Again, thank you to Button Tree Quilts for a wonderful time.

R & C Fabrics - Sept 2009
Ramona and Cathy from R & C Fabrics in Mossman, far Nth Qld,  extended their generous country hospitality to myself and 42 customers at a Trunk Show expose.  I met an enthusiastic group of sewers who are very interested on anything of a sewing nature.  What a wonderful experience and one that will grow into bigger things.  Thank you Ramona and Cathy.

July With Jane - July 2009
A group of machine embroidery enthusiasts came together at Bribie Island for a wonderful weekend of sewing, laughter and learning.  Sewing skills were extended as we produced unique carry-all tote bags.  And precision was required for the classy cutwork table runner.  And if anyone dared to finish early, embroidered silk coathanger covers were stitched.  And with the cool weather, sheep footwear was the order of the day.
Thank you to Anne and Philip for your hospitality.

Button Tree Quilts - May 2009

We had a week end of fun, laughter and sewing at Button Tree Quilts.  It was a real Mother's Day treat for some ladies !!!  Husbands booked and paid for the workshops and even looked after the children.  WOW!!  The ladies made the most wonderful zippered expandable carry bag, - just the type needed when shopping at Craft shows.

And on the second day, everyone was up for the challenge of foundation piecing, bias making and folding fabric flowers.
Between the outbursts of laughter, there were serious moments of thinking and sewing.  We had a fabulouos week-end.

Thank you to Kate and Colleen of Button Tree Quilts for the most wonderful sumptuous Mother's Day luncheon.

Machine Embroidery Retreat - Townsville  March 2009
Twenty-one ladies came together for two and a half days of uninterrrupted sewing at a motel and conference centre in Townsville.  Ladies eagerly arrived and set up their machines and met the challenge of the projects on offer.  The main project was a cutwork table runner requiring precision placement of the design.  After that intensive exercise, a mini project , a lavender sachet was embroidered entirely in the hoop.

Some ladies desired a complete change from machine embroidery and challenged themselves with free machine creative sewing, patchworking or dressmaking.  It provided varied sewing experiences.  Participants are already talking about "the next retreat".
Watch the events page for more infomration.
Until then, peruse the images and enjoy the fun that the ladies had during the week end.

Button Tree Quilts - Cairns Feb 2009
We had a great tiime at Button Tree Quilts during our 2-day workshops.  The ladies laughed a lot, and learned much.  On Saturday, we stitched a double-sided table topper.

On Sunday, we made a little Scrip Bag.  The ladies learned to stitch cathedral windows with the sewing machine.  Look at our end results.  They are Great !!!

There was barely enough time to have lunch.  It was all hands to the sewing machines and the iron.  Just look at the concentration.

These are some of the ladies who spent a fabulous week-end sewing at Button Tree Quilts.  We finished our projects in the day and survived to tell the tale.
