Flinders Poppy Craft & Resource Group, November, December - Hughenden Country ladies love to get together and support each other, especially in the rural remoteness of north western Queensland.
And before commencing a major project, the ladies honed their creative and sewing skills on a number of smaller projects, which saw them utilising embroidery, applique, quilting and decorative stitching.
The Australian Wildflowers project has become the catylyst for the ladies to meet and indulge themselves in creative and artistic 3-dimensional sewing.
And for some, driving long distances to attend workshops is an accepted requirement. |

2010 Sewing and Machine Embroidery Retreat - Townsville The fourth Sewing and machine Embroidery retreat was held in Townsville the first weekend of November. Twenty-one ladies came together to undertake projects offerred at the retreat, or to work on their own GEMs (Great Embroidery Masterpieces). We sewed, laughed and sewed more. Many worked late into the night, while others started sewing way before breakfast. Needless to say, very little sleep was had. Ultimately, many projects were successfully finished and participants departed exhausted and happy at their achievements. P.S. The only time machines "Lay Silent" was when the lunch bell sounded. |

Pentland Art and Craft Group - June A two-day sewing workshop was held at Pentland, a small community west of Townsville. A special thankyou to the group for a most hospitable country welcome. |
And late on the Sunday afternoon, after two solid days of sewing, we were surprised by the arrival of a large group of tourists from New south wales. They had stopped for a cuppa, heard the laughter and came to investigate what was happening in this tiny township of approx 150 people. In true Aussie style, they were invited in to share the fun of the workshop. |
